The Xmedia Awards Lowdown

Listening to: Rumble Strips - London

Finally, I get to bring some of the sights and info on the Xmedia Awards from Friday night. It was an amazingly fun night down at the Thistle Hotel, where all the media of Exeter joined together with a couple of bottles of booze, to celebrate (some more than others) and heckle (some more than others) the years achievements!

The Xpression team met at the Impy beforehand for some sophisticated pre-drinking, then stumbled to the glitzy and o so posh hotel. Seriously plush. We're talking quality wallpaper and thick carpets- totally pushed the boat out for the awards venue! Owen (winner of Exeter's Got Talent) presented the night and there was music from Paddy Johnston (the Legend that is). But here's some photos of the night, courtsey of Becc Attfield and David Ruffus, with only a few snapshots of the night from me.... as i may have accidentally dropped my camera....

So as you can tell, it was fun with a capital F, and if you wanna find out who won what awards, then check out the members site on: http://sites.google.com/site/xpressionintranet/ which Edgar (the creator) incidentally won the internal 'Innovation' award.

Heres a lovely group shot of all the committee, old and new, and random members (including myself)... great night. So sad that this year is all nearly over and done with! But for those who are going to still be knocking around campus next year, definitely go to the xmedia awards for a memorable night....

*The things i learnt from the awards*
  1. Don't trust canapes which are obviously still yearning for a return to the sea

  2. Edgar Dawkins is a liability

  3. Ensure camera is firmly attatched to wrist when getting snappy-happy

  4. Free wine = everyones downfall

  5. If the police find you in the middle of the road on your knees at 3am, they will question your sanity (Mr Williams)

  1. Ms Saint I must admitt I have a few issues regarding this blog. Firstly, what a tragedy that you dropped your camera, I imagine that the fine figure of a man who picked it up for you is mentioned in the above blog, oh wait no he isn't. If you could point me in the direction of this knight in shining armour let me know!

Secondly, crawling around in the road in the middle of the night could be construed as productive if one was searching for clips to a prestigious award!! The insinuation of insanity has badly damaged my character, I'll never be Prime Minister now.

That is all. I expect apologies.
